The Wall Walk

The wall walk is a great progression to help prepare an individual for developing the strength and stability for performing a free standing handstand. The individual slowly walks themselves up to the wall and once in the top position can either hold this position for time or can slowly progress towards a free standing handstand by gentle taking one foot and then the other away from the wall to balance.

I was introduced to the wall walk by Crossfit Coach Andy Trinh of Vault Performance Crossfit 224 during one of our teams professional development days.  The wall walk is an exercise commonly seen in Crossfit and it is a great exercise to add into your everyday bodyweight training routine if you are looking to work on upper body strength and or performing handstands.

Note:  Please consult with a professional (crossfit coach, S&C coach, gymnastics coach or appropriately qualified professional before trying this out).
