I have recently had a number of clients that have attended the osteopathic clinic for the treatment of lower back pain. In several of these cases, they have responded well to the McKenzie method of treatment for lower back pain. The McKenzie Method was created by New Zealand Physiotherapist Robin McKenzie and it is reported that he first stumbled upon the use of extension based treatment and exercises for the treatment of lower back pain by accident. The McKenzie Method is very quickly applied to the client and can be helpful for those individuals with lumbar disc injuries and radicular (leg) pain.
