Getting More Out Of Your Calf Stretch

I was first introduced to the idea of creating a better calf stretch/mobiliser through variation of foot positions and using other parts of the body to drive movement into the grounded leg by Gary Gray of the Gray Institute.  These concepts have since changed a lot of how I work and what I prescribe for my clients and now I look to incorporate this whenever I am working with my clients.

In the image below you will see an example of how I have pre positioned the foot (raised the medial arch) to alter the calf stretch.  In the same exercise I am also using the clients non weight bearing front leg to step across from left to right in the frontal plane to create a multiplane stretch.

Some other examples of creating multiplane stretches can also be seen below in the videos.
