In the videos below you will see how we have approached the strength and conditioning aspects for our Principle Four Osteopathy client who has a specific goal of wanting to address upper body strength, in particular overhead pressing. This client has previously suffered a stroke and therefore their movement and control has been impacted as a result of this.
We have incorporated the following:
1. Wall supported overhead press – adding stability, we have the client performing a light loaded overhead press movement.
2. Isometric resisted press at top phase of the movement – we ask the client to perform isometric resisted movement at the top phase of their overhead press.
Our aim is to build strength endurance by increasing the volume of work completed with these exercises (low loads). We will aim for maximum stability where possible and then look to alter our approach following the success of this.
