In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams performing a bent over row (one of the best exercises for building a strong back as it engages your entire posterior chair).
In this particular variation you will see that there is a power band (Ironedge orange 41 inch band) attached to the bar which creates an anterior force pull on the bar. As a result of this Heath is required to work against this anterior pull whilst performing the horizontal pull. The outcome of this is increased tension through the back.
For those individuals who struggle to keep the bar close to them during the bent over row this strategy will also assist greatly.
Tips: Start with a light resistance band that creates a gentle force that you will need to work against. The goal of this is to not work excessively hard with the posterior pull, but more to assist in creating better bar positioning and tension whilst performing the horizontal pull movement.
