Osteopath Footscray

If your lifestyle involves heavy lifting at work, training at the gym, chasing after young children or spending long hours behind a computer, then there is a good chance you live every day with aches, stiffness or an injury.

For many people, musculoskeletal pain can affect the way they move and feel every day. Thankfully, for residents of Footscray and other Melbourne inner west suburbs, help is available from Principle Four Osteopathy.

As our clinic is conveniently located on Collins Street in the Melbourne CBD, many of our patients can combine an appointment with their daily commute into the city.

When our patients see them, our experienced osteopaths assess, diagnose, and treat a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions. They also create bespoke treatment plans based on their needs to speed up their recovery.

Please contact them today if you would like to make an appointment.

Who We Help

Our qualified osteopaths help patients suffering from a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. Essentially, any issue or injury that affects the human body’s movement.

This includes, but is not limited to:

Some of our patients make appointments with us immediately after suffering from a specific injury. Others do so after managing persistent discomfort for some time.

Whatever your circumstance, our team will do their best to help you feel better and move more freely.

Getting to US FROM FOOTSCRAY

Being based in the Melbourne CBD, our clinic is easy to reach for most Footscray residents. Because of this, some patients attend appointments before work, during a break in the day or on their way home.

Many travel by train from Footscray Station to Southern Cross Station on one of the various services that run frequently throughout the day. From Southern Cross, it’s approximately a 10-minute walk to our Collins Street clinic.

If you’re driving, some of the most common routes you can take include Dynon Road, Footscray Road or CityLink. On a clear run, the journey should take around 15 to 20 minutes.

Our Approach

At Principle Four Osteopathy, we know that every person experiences pain differently. That is why we take a personalised approach to treatment.

Before recommending a management plan, your osteopath will spend time understanding your symptoms, medical history, typical daily activities and your movement patterns. This is important because by identifying the factors that may be contributing to your condition, we aim to develop a treatment appropriate to your individual circumstances.

Depending on your needs, treatment may include manual osteopathic techniques, soft tissue therapy, joint mobilisation and personalised exercise advice.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

During your first appointment, our osteopath will discuss your symptoms, general health, previous injuries and any treatments you’ve already tried with you.

They will then perform a physical assessment, which may include observing your posture, testing your movement and examining the affected area. By performing this type of assessment, they will be able to develop a clearer understanding of what may be contributing to your symptoms.

After explaining their findings, your osteopath will then discuss suitable treatment options. If appropriate, they can begin immediately, during your initial consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some quick answers to three of the most common questions we are asked. More are covered on our FAQs page.

Is your clinic easy to reach from Footscray?
We see many patients from Footscray at our CBD clinic. Many travel by train on one of several services that run throughout the day to Southern Cross Station and then walk to Collins Street.
Can osteopathy help if my pain comes and goes?

If you have recurring pain that comes and goes, it can still be beneficial to have it checked out by one of our osteopaths. Even if symptoms aren’t constant, identifying the possible contributing factors may help to manage the issue better.

What should I wear to my appointment?
During your appointment, your osteopath might ask you to perform simple movement tests. For this reason, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily.
