Osteopath Richmond

If you live or work in Richmond and are looking for an excellent osteopath service, please contact the team at Principle Four Osteopathy.

Our Melbourne CBD location on Collins Street is just 3km from “Richo” and easy to reach by car or public transport. We regularly welcome patients from this and other inner-east suburbs, and are often able to see them on the day they call.

If you’re dealing with a recent injury, persistent pain or stiffness that’s affecting your daily routine, our osteopaths are ready to help. They’ll identify the cause of your issue before recommending a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.

Who We Help

Our Richmond osteopathy team sees patients of all ages afflicted with musculoskeletal conditions. Some patients visit us after a sporting injury, while others seek help for discomfort that has gradually developed over time due to work, study or everyday life.

They include conditions like:

Getting to Our Melbourne CBD Clinic from Richmond

For most patients, our Collins Street clinic should be easy to reach from Richmond by public transport.

If you’re catching the train, services on the Lilydale, Belgrave, Alamein, Glen Waverley, Blackburn, Frankston, Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sandringham lines all stop at Richmond Station before continuing to Flinders Street Station. The trip usually takes around 5 minutes, followed by an easy 8 to 10-minute walk to our clinic.

Alternatively, several trams connect Richmond with the city. They include Route 48 along Bridge Road and Route 75 along Flinders Street.

For those who will be driving, the journey via Punt Road and Wellington Parade generally takes around 15 to 20 minutes outside peak periods. You’ll find metered parking on Collins Street, and nearby Wilson Parking locations on Little Collins Street and Russell Street.

Our Approach

At Principle Four Osteopathy, rather than only focusing on where they hurt, we believe the most effective care starts with understanding why your symptoms developed in the first place. That’s why we ensure that every consultation includes time to discuss your health history, lifestyle, movement patterns and treatment goals before starting any hands-on care.

Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual, with our osteopaths combining manual therapy with exercise advice, practical education, and rehabilitation to support your recovery. They are also qualified strength and conditioning coaches, which means they can include targeted rehabilitation and exercise into your management plan where appropriate.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

During your first appointment with our practitioner, they will have an in-depth discussion with you about your symptoms, medical history, and the activities you do on a daily basis.

Once you’ve had that chat, they will perform a physical assessment and give you the opportunity to ask any questions. After which, they will explain their findings and recommend a bespoke treatment plan.

If they deem it appropriate, they may even begin treatment during your initial consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

We get asked many questions about our Osteo Richmond service. While we cover them in more detail on our dedicated FAQs page, here are answers to three questions we’re often asked.

Do I need a referral to see an osteopath?

The short answer is no. You don’t need a GP referral to book an appointment with our osteopaths. Instead, you can make an appointment directly with us.

That said, if you’re claiming through Medicare Chronic Disease Management, TAC, DVA or WorkCover, then they might require you to have one.

How many osteopathy appointments will I need?

This will vary from person to person and depend on your current condition, symptoms and what you want the appointments to achieve. After your initial assessment, your osteopath might be able to give you a ballpark figure based on their treatment plan.

Is your Melbourne CBD clinic easy to reach from Richmond?

Richmond is just 3km from the CBD, and it is one of Melbourne’s best-connected suburbs. Frequent train and tram services will take you into the city. Our Collins Street clinic is within walking distance of Flinders Street Station.
