Thumb Stretches For The Office Worker and Manual Handling Worker

In the image below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy and Corporate Work Health Australia demonstrating two simple stretches that can be performed to help stretch the muscles around the thumb.  These are two simple stretches that can help relieve tension for both the office worker and worker who regularly performs manual handling tasks.  Remember, stretching should not cause pain and if they do, please stop and see your allied health professional (osteopath, physiotherapist) or general practitioner.  In the top image you should gentle grip your thumb and gently pull away (avoid pulling with excessive force or speed).  In the below image, bend your thumb and gently tilt the wrist away.  Both movements should create a gentle stretch in the muscles around the thumb.
