Sumo Deadlift With Bands

The deadlift is a great exercise to perform to build strength and power through the hips and lower limb.  The exercise really loads up and requires you develop force through the posterior chain.  In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams performing a Sumo Stance Deadlift with an alternate grip.  The sumo stance is just one of a number of variations on how you can perform the deadlift.  In this video you will also see that he has a 41 inch powerband from Ironedge wrapped around the bar and placed under his feet. The idea of the band is that it requires the individual to work harder on the lockout phase of the pull.

If you are training and want to work on developing strength/power in the pulling phase or simply want to do some speed work, then the bands can be a useful adjunct.
