Simple Back Extension Stretch For The Office Worker
In the image below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy and Corporate Work Health Australia demonstrating a simple back extension stretch for the office worker or manual handling worker. The aim of this exercise is to gently take the back through some extension movement that may help to relieve tension that often develops in the back as a result of prolonged static sitting postures or for workers who are regularly performing manual handling tasks at work. Perform this exercise by placing your hands on your hips/lower back and gently move from a neutral standing position to gentle extension. Be sure to move in and out of this exercise in a controlled manner and repeat 3-5 times. Avoid holding the extension position for a prolonged time and do not perform this movement if pain is felt.
