Shrugging For Traps
The shrug is a great exercise to build bigger traps. For those that are lifting regularly in the gym, well developed traps come in handy when placing a heavy barbell across your shoulders for squatting. The traps also play a big role with regards to all movements requiring movement and load through the scapular and upper limb.
Shrugs can be performed using kettlebells, dumbbells and many other great tools. In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams performing shrugs. The aim is to keep the elbows as straight as possible and initiate the movement from the trap muscles.
