I was first introduced to the Jefferson curl by Melbourne Calisthenics owner Alex Jenkins as part of the warm up for calisthenics. This is a great exercise for those wanting to improve the mobility of their back and hamstrings. The one thing that I should mention is that I would not try this exercise without receiving guidance first by a qualified trainer and if you currently suffer from any specific spinal complaints i.e. lower back pain etc, then please consult with your osteopath or physiotherapist before trying this out.
The curl involves the individual gentle bending over and letting gravity and an external load (if used) to gradually stretch out the hamstrings and back over a short period of time.
