Where Are Your Elbows When Performing A Push Up?
In the image below you will see one of Principle Four Osteopathy clients demonstrating 2 different elbow positions for a push up. The image on the left is very typical of the beginner exerciser and/or those who report to have a history of shoulder complaints associated with performing a push up or bench press. The image on the right (where the elbow is about 45 degrees) is often prescribed so to avoid putting the shoulder in a position where one may aggravate their shoulder girdle.
