Back Extension Exercise – Early Phase Exercise

In the image below you will see one of Principle Four Osteopathy clients performing an isometric hold whilst bracing the feet agains the wall and maintaining a stable trunk position. This exercise held as an isometric is a great place to start for clients wishing to build some strength by holding the body in position against gravity.  We have progressed this to a slight trunk bend (at the hips) and then moving back into position with a short range of motion with the aim of progressing this further as one develops their strength endurance.
