Does Your Osteopath Understand Exercise Prescription?
Since graduating as an osteopath in 2003 I have worked across many different clinical environments across multiple countries and it still continues to amaze me that many of the patients that present to Principle Four Osteopathy who are currently managing a musculoskeletal complaint or are looking for some further input with regards to their rehab program often mention that their previous practitioner (be it osteopath, physiotherapist, chiropractor or myotherapist) have only provided limited active exercise interventions to help the individual manage their complaint or return to the activities that they love doing. At Principle Four Osteopathy all of our practitioners have an interest in exercise (we regularly exercise ourselves as well as having undertaken a variety of post graduate studies to improve our knowledge around exercise prescription). Therefore when you are come to our clinic for advice in this area, you are seeing practitioners who are most likely going to have experience in prescribing a training program for your complaint. If we don’t think we can help you, then we will look to refer you to a professional who can.
