Why Is Having Your Workstation Assessed Useful?

Over the years I have conducted 1000’s of workstation ergonomic assessments for individuals who spend a large portion of their day performing many of their work tasks seated and using the computer.  Many of these individuals often will sit and work at their workstation having never really understanding how to adjust their chair and workstation accessories (computer etc) to suit their needs.  Many of these individuals often report to suffer from various musculoskeletal complaints, the most common being neck and shoulder pain or lower back pain and don’t realise how static or awkward postures for long periods of time or repetitive work tasks could be contributing to their complaint.

What Are The Benefits Of Having An Individual Workstation Ergonomic Assessment?

  • Education and guidance on how to adjust ones chair and set up their workstation equipment to best suit the individuals needs based on their specific needs and the work tasks and work flow that are performed on a daily basis.
  • Education on how to reduce ones risk of developing musculoskeletal strains and sprains in the workplace through education on how to avoid static, awkward sitting periods for long periods of time.
  • Education and guidance on how to reduce ones risk of developing musculoskeletal strains and sprains by reviewing how ones work tasks and work flow are performed.
  • Education and guidance on self management strategies to increase activity in the work place as well as perform simple flexibility and mobility stretches and exercises.
