Whats Your Thoracic Mobility Like?

There are many different ways to assess thoracic spine mobility and below are 2 assessments that I use commonly with clients.  These were shown to me whilst undertaking FMS and SFMA training by the Functional Movement Systems.

Thoracic Spine Mobility – 3 Point Kneeling

This gives you an idea of spinal external rotation.

Thoracic Spine Mobility Kneeling – Lumbars Locked

By sitting back onto onto ones heels, we will look to lock up the movement in the lumbar spine and gain some further insight into thoracic spine external rotation.

The great thing about these two thoracic spine assessment videos shown above is that the test is the exercise and the exercise can be the test.  Therefore one can implement this into their daily mobility or training program should they not have any pain and start working on increasing their mobility.
