Wall Supported Single Leg RDL – An Osteopaths Perspective

In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams performing a wall supported single leg RDL.  The non training leg (rear leg) is placed against the wall and the individual hinges towards the ground with a partial bent knee whilst holding a load (kettlebell) to load the grounded legs posterior chain (glutes and hamstrings).  An asymmetrical load also requires the individual to maintain a torso position parallel to the ground and in alignment with the hips which should be parallel to the ground.  This is a modification on the single leg RDL whereby additional stability and control is added to the movement.  This might work well as a regression from the single leg RDL or allow one to train a slightly heavier load than they would with the single leg RDL.
