Using Bands To Increase Stability

The micro bands are a great training tool accessory to use when you are wanting to look to increase stability in an exercise.  Often by increasing stability the exercise can become easier to perform.   In the videos below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy use the bands to engage and increase activation of the hips/pelvis which provides greater stability.

There are generally no hard and fast rules when it comes to using the bands.  As you can see I have literally incorporated them into my everyday work to see what works and what doesn’t.  Next time you are training in the gym, try adding the bands to your routine and see if allows you to perform a few extra reps or with better form.  I don’t advocate using bands for all exercises or sessions, but use them as an adjunct within your training program.
