Tri Plane Shoulder Mobility Drill

In the video below, osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy demonstrates a modified shoulder mobility drill that has been borrowed from the idea of the kettlebell halo exercises which typically involves one holding the kettlebell and moving it around ones head in a slow and controlled manner to get the shoulder joints ready for training.  In the video below Heath uses a light weight plate and uses this to mobilise through all three planes of movement (sagittal, frontal and transverse plane).  You will see him drive the weight back and forth in the frontal plane first, followed by side to side over the head in the frontal plane and then around the head in the transverse plane.  This is a great drill that can be performed using a weight plate, kettlebell or dumbbell. You can regress or progress the exercise by changing up the speed, range of motion, external load, sets, repetitions and duration of the exercise.
