Trap Bar Deadlift Exercise Variation

In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy performing a trap bar deadlift with a slight variation on its conventional use.  Rather than having the weight/load either side of the body and holding the traditional handles by ones side, he has changed his stance so that the load is placed in front and behind whilst grabbing the outer aspect of the trap bar.  This change in load means that one must balance the load anteriorly-posteriorly to the body rather than side to side.  One must work hard to stabilise the bar so that it doesnt tip forward or back, therefore adding in an additional stability and control component to the trap bar deadlift.  When performing this lift, one might reduce loads compared to their traditional trap bar deadlift so that they can accomodate the additional challenge of the load change and then gradually build up their lifting load.
