Training Your Core – A Different Approach

In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams performing a wall supported hinge whilst pushing a med ball in front overhead and then performing a rotatory trunk movement.  This concept was borrowed from Frans Bosch as involves holding an isometric hip hinge whilst adding movement through the arms and trunk to challenge the core.  Rather than just performing a plank, this exercise demands stability and control in a standing position and isometrically loads the posterior chain and torso whilst adding movement.  The movement of the ball (loaded) on the arms challenges the body through load, leverage and movement.  Next time you are in the gym, give this nice little exercise a go.
