  2. Assess the risks.  Risk Factors can include:  Type of work, layout of workspace, weight of an object, location of an object, duration and frequency, condition of an object, awkward loads, handling a live person or animal.
  3. Reduce or eliminate the risk.  This could involve: Changing the task, changing the object, changing the workspace, using mechanical lifting aids, changing the nature of the work, provide task specific training.
