Top 5 Exercises For Building A Stronger Back

Osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy has given us his Top 5 Exercises For Building A Stronger Back.

Top 5 Exercises For Building A Stronger Back

Chin Up – Nothing goes past the chin up.  Whatever grip you choose, be it neutral, supinated, pronated or offset.  The chin up requires a great deal of back strength and being able to chin your own body weight should be a goal of everyone.Bent Over Row – This has recently become a favourite of mine because of the need to create trunk stability.  Especially the knee supported single arm row.  Check out the video example by clicking here.  Big thanks to my training partner, Exercise Physiologist Yujin Lim of Optimal Health Exercise Physiology in Melbourne.

Face Pulls – A great exercise to train both posterior shoulder muscles and back.  Check out the video link by clicking here to see a great example.

Any Vertical Pull or Horizontal Pull movement using the Maximum Advantage Grip Bars. These are probably one of the best things I have ever come across when it comes to accessories for training the back.  Click here to watch a demo on YouTube by Max. Adv. Grip.  If you want to try these guys out in Melbourne.  Get on down to Elite Sports Performance (ESP) in Spotswood, Melbourne.

Chest Supported Row – Another great exercise that allows the user to vary their grip and work the back. Click here to watch how this is done.
