The Mark Bell Slingshot – Bench Press Training

The Mark Bell Slingshot is a great training accessory to have in your training bag on chest day because it can be used to help you get used to handling heavier training loads.  The idea is that you place the slingshot across your arms and due to the tight elastic structure, as you lower the weight down to your chest you will be afforded some assistance in moving the weight up and away from the body due to its design.  As you extend your arms out the slingshot provides less assistance and therefore you are required to handle the majority of the training load yourself.

In the video below we see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy use the Mark Bell Slingshot in one of his training routine.  On average, the Slingshot may allow you to handle an additional 10-20kgs on top of your normal bench press weight.
