Swiss Ball Hip Bridge – Training Your Glutes and Hamstrings

The hip bridge is a commonly prescribed exercise for those looking to train their gluteals and hamstring muscles.  In the image below you will see one of Principle Four Osteopathy clients performing a swiss ball hip bridge (the ball requires the individual to work harder to stabilise due to the shifting base of support whilst also allowing the individual to perform a hip bridge through a greater range of motion) with a knee bent to ball roll (this requires the individual to eccentrically load their hamstrings as the knee extends).  A straight up swiss ball hip bridge and swiss ball hip bridge with roll out are two great variations on the traditional hip bridge exercise.
