Spine and Stretch Mobiliser

In the image below you will see one of Principle Four Osteopathy clients performing one of my favourite go to exercises for working on shoulder mobility (through flexion) whilst also looking to improve thoracic spine extension. The key here with this exercise is to hinge through the hips and look to maintain a neutral lumbar spine (their neutral position anyway).  If one is particularly tight through the hamstrings you can ask them to soften the knees to take the effort away from the hamstrings so that you can focus on the shoulders and mid back.  One can opt to maintain a static stretch in this position or you can make it more dynamic and move in and out of the stretch and aiming to mobilise further as you perform this.
