Single Arm Kettlebell Mountain Climber

In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy demonstrating a single arm kettlebell mountain climber.  The main reason this exercise has been modified from the traditional mountain climber is that Heath is training around a right shoulder injury.  Rather than not train at all, the exercise has been modified to allow training without loading the right shoulder.  The mountain climber exercise is one that focuses on torso and upper limb stability whilst alternating leg lifts when both hands are traditionally on the ground (think high plank position).  The kettlebell has been incorporated into this exercise to allow for a neutral gripping position as well as change the torso angle to reduce the challenge (effort to hold the body against gravity).  The single arm version requires one to stabilise their weight through 3 points of contact (left shoulder and two feet) and then lifting the leg requires stability across two points of contact.  In this video the same side leg as stabilising arm is lifted as it is easier to stabilise the torso in the high plank position with two points of contact diagonally.
