Sidelying Thoracic Mobiliser With Elbow Driver (Short Lever)

In the video below you will see osteopath Tim McNamara of Principle Four Osteopathy demonstrating a sidelying thoracic rotation mobility drill using the elbow as the driver.  The key with this particular exercise (it is a variation on the open book exercise) is to bend the knees up (keep them pressed together and on the floor) and then place both hands around ones head for support and then rotate away from the legs with the top arm.  A short lever is a great place to start as it ensures the movement focus is on the thoracic spine and ribs compared to long lever (arms out straight) whereby one might tend to cheat a little bit and end up reaching the floor through excessive movement through the GH joint.
