Shoulder Stabilisation and Strengthening – Bottoms Up Kettlebell Press

In the video below you will see one of Principle Four Osteopathy clients performing a lying (supine) bottoms up kettlebell scapular press.  This is a great exercise as the bottoms up kettlebell hold requires the individual to stabilise the load through their wrist and shoulder girdle.  In this exercise the client has been asked to close pack the shoulder girdle (start position) and then press the weight towards the ceiling to load the serratus anterior as well as require the scapular and rotator cuff muscles to stabilise and control the movement.  For individuals training regularly or for those that have had previous simple shoulder complaints, this is a great exercise to include in ones program.
