Shoulder Rehab Exercises | Tweaking Conventional Movements

In the videos below you will see one of Principle Four Osteopathy clients performing a modified version of the straight arm pull down (aiming to work on lats) and the dumbbell floor press (modified range chest press).  Typically one will perform the straight arm pull down with a straight bar and two hands.  We have opted for a cable to focus on one shoulder whilst asking the trunk to have to stabilise and avoid rotation.  We have also placed a band around the scapular that requires the individual to retract and shrug the shoulder slightly against the resistance to assist with pre positioning.  The floor press movement has been added to work on the anterior shoulder and pectoralis and tricep muscles whilst limiting range.  Low loads and higher reps have been focused on to address strength endurance and ensure technique is generally performed in an effecient and safe manner.
