Rotation Core Exercise | Building Your Core Strength

When it comes to training the trunk I like to keep things relatively simple with regards to how I select my exercises.  With regards to the trunk (abs/lower back) I always think about the trunk as needing to do the following:
Brace i.e. plank, side plank, reverse plank, ab roller

  • Anti rotate (pallof press, torsonator, birddog, deadbug)
  • Diagonal / Across Midline / rotate  strength (wood chop low to high, high to low)
  • Flexion/Extension (hanging leg raises, knee tucks, sit ups, back extension)

The exercise video shown below probably falls into the diagonal / across the midline category.   One can perform this exercise holding the weight plate in both hands or in this instance below I am holding in one hand whilst passing to the other.
