Osteopaths will commonly use forms of taping for a variety of injuries seen in the clinic. These include: back pain, neck pain, postural issues relating to slouching in the chair, taping for achilles tendinopathy, plantarfasciitis, patellar maltracking, tennis and golfers elbow.

Taping can be used to either stabilise an area to prevent mobility (rigid taping is often used in this case) or to reduce the load or pull through a specific area (both rigid, kinesio and Rocktape can be used in these circumstances).

Often taping is provided in conjunction with other treatment approaches such as hands on manual therapy, dry needling and exercise prescription.

Whilst taping is often not used as a long term solution to the problem, often it creates an opportunity for improved healing and reduction in aggravation of the injury.

If you currently suffer from any of the complaints above and would like to trial taping in conjunction with Osteopathy, then please email info@principle4.com or call 03 9670 9290.
