Push Up To Anterior Kick Through

In the video below I have combined a push up to anterior kick through mobility/strength exercise that has been adapted from Zuu.

This movement based exercise is great for those wanting to combine both strength, mobility and motor control into their everyday workout.

If we break the exercise down into its various phases, we have the following:

  1.  Push Up Phase – Requires trunk stability whilst developing strength through the upper body.
  2. Push Up To Anterior Kick Through Mid Phase – this requires the individual to place one leg near the position of the hand in the push up and to stabilise through the hand and feet.
  3. Anterior Kick Through Phase – this requires the individual to bring their back leg anterior and to the front whilst maintaining 2 points of contact/support with one hand and foot.

For those of you who are looking to progress this exercise, try slowing the exercise down and keeping the kick through foot off the ground or speed up the movement.  For those looking to regress this exercise, look to break the exercise into its different phases and increase support and stability by touching the ground at different points in the movement.
