Principle Four Osteopathy Internship – Jarrod Testa

Principle Four Osteopathy would like to introduce Victoria University 5th Year Osteopathy student Jarrod Testa to the team for the second half of 2018.  Osteopath Heath Williams has previously taught Jarrod at Victoria University in Exercise Rehab in his 4th year of Uni and it was Jarrod’s curious and thirsty attitude towards learning and practice reflection as well commitment to applying his practical S&C/Rehab skills to both himself and his clients that impressed.

Jarrod will be spending each Monday morning 8 – 12pm as of Monday 23rd July at the practice and will spend time observing and taking part in the treatment and management of Principle Four Osteopathy clients.  Whilst Jarrod will be spending time at P4O honing his skills in the last semester before graduating to become an osteopath, he will also be bringing some additional skills in exercise rehab/strength and conditioning that will add to the team at Principle Four Osteopathy.   We will therefore be looking to offer current Principle Four Osteopathy clients complimentary sessions with Jarrod at the clinic and your osteopath Heath, Tim, Josh and Shaun will discuss this with you in person should they feel you will benefit from consulting with Jarrod.

Jarrod Testa Principle Four Osteopathy Internship - Jarrod Testa

I am currently in my fifth year of my masters degree to become a qualified osteopath. Before this, i studied three years at australian catholic university completing a bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science.

Along the way  i have attended short courses on both rehabilitation, strength training and nutrition for body composition, whilst doing a lot of reading in these areas.

Some examples of short courses that I have attended include:

  • Andrew Lock – Don’t fear the disc bulge
  • Tania Pizzari / Mill park Physio – Science based rehabilitation
  • Daniel Vadnal / FitnessFAQs – Introduction to bodyweight strength
  • Layne Norton – Nutrition and training principles for bodybuilders and powerlifters
  • JPS health and Fitness – Introduction to powerlifting fundamentals

Growing up i was always fairly active, playing soccer from the age of 8 to 16, before training in boxing and kick boxing for two years. This was the time i started strength training.

My passion for rehabilitation started in 2011 when i had a shoulder injury that nobody could fix, this lead me to discovering Tania Pizzari and sparked my interest into managing injuries and general niggles.

I have been strength training since late 2009, and have been working various personal training roles along the years. I have also competed in two Powerlifting competitions since late last year, with my third coming up in December 2018.

I have an interest in treating all musculoskeletal complaints, and i am passionate about teaching my patients in how they can eventually manage them on their own.
