Often clients have a number of questions prior to attending a consult with an osteopath for the first time. For those clients who are thinking about seeing a Melbourne osteopath for treatment of a musculoskeletal complaint, then make sure you click here to read some of the common asked questions.
For those of you who have heard of osteopaths but are still unsure what we do, then please take a 60 seconds to read below.
Osteopaths are primary health care practitioners (allied health practitioners) who undertake 4.5 – 5 years of study at University. We largely work in a private practice clinic setting and generally individuals will book to see us for the treatment and management of musculoskeletal complaints. Some of the more common musculoskeletal complaints include neck pain, back pain, sports injuries, shoulder pain, hip and lower limb pain.
Osteopaths are governed by AHPRA along with physiotherapists, chiropractors and other health professionals and we must undertake a minimum of 25 hours post graduate training each year to ensure we stay up to date with best practice. At Principle Four Osteopathy our Melbourne Osteopaths have undertaken additional training in a range of areas that include exercise prescription, strength and conditioning and ergonomics. Hence clients will often seek us out for these additional services also.
