Powerband Stability Challenged Push Ups

In the video below we see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy performing push ups on a powerband.  The placement of the 41 inch thick powerband from one J-Cup to the other creates enough tension so that it will hold ones weight, yet will also move around as the individual performs the push up.  This exercise requires the individual to stay tight and strong through their core/trunk as well as stabilise through the scapulothoracic joint and upper limb.  Failure to stabilise adequately will mean the band moves a great deal and/or the individual will be unable to perform a full range push up or repetitions of this.

If you would like to find out more about how you can use exercise for performance enhancement or within the treatment and management program for your specific musculoskeletal complaint, be sure to touch base with us.
