Powerband Ankle Mobility Drill

The video below shows osteopath Heath Williams using the powerband to assist with mobilising the ankle joint through dorsiflexion.  The band is placed along the tibia/fibula just above the talocrural joint and provides a gentle posterior translation force. Osteopath Heath Williams then gentle drives the knee forward whilst keeping the foot flat on the ground to mobilise the ankle into dorsiflexion.  This is a great exercise for those who might be a little tight through the ankle joint.

Note: If this causes pain or extreme discomfort, please stop and consult with your osteopath.

This concept was borrowed from Kelly Starrett of Mobility Wod.  The band used in this video is a 41 inch band sourced from Ironedge in Melbourne.  This is a great drill to perform as part of your prehab or rehab program to improve ankle dorsiflexion and reduce your risk of injury.
