Posterior Hip Stretch

Often the posterior hip capsule and structures in this region tighten up as a result of day to day activities and work tasks.  In the images below osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy demonstrates one of his favourite posterior hip stretches.

Posterior Hip Capsule Stretch

To perform this exercise you need to get yourself on the ground on your hands and knees.  Then with your right leg straighten this and out bring it across the mid line to the left side of the body and then gently push your hips to the left in the frontal plane. As with all stretching there should be a small degree of a stretch feeling.  Please do not continue with this stretch if there is pain.
