What Is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a manual therapy that uses a combination of hands-on techniques to treat physical disorders

and restore optimal health.

Exercise Prescription & Rehabilitation Consultation FAQS

The initial exercise prescription and program design consultation takes 45 – 60 minutes. Information gathered from the initial consultation is used to prescribe a program to best suit your needs.

Each individuals program is completely unique and is tailored to the individual and will consist of stretches, mobilisers and resistance based exercises.

A follow up consultation is often required so that the individual can be taken through their specific program. This consultation takes 30-40 minutes.

It is suggested that every individual review their exercise program every 6-8 weeks depending on their specific goals.


What is a Functional Movement Screen Consultation?

The Functional Movement Screen consultation assessed an individuals balance, stability and mobility and allows the assessor to identify imbalances, weaknesses, asymmetries and movement restrictions in the body.

The assessment can assist with an osteopathic consultation, exercise prescription or sports specific conditioning program. It reduces the risk of musculoskeletal injury.

Who would benefit from a Functional Movement Screen Consultation?

      • Individuals with chronic musculoskeletal complaints i.e. overuse injuries, tendinopathies, recurrent strains and sprains
      • Individuals designing an exercise program to improve movement and overall wellbeing
      • Individuals playing a specific sport and looking to improve performance

Information from this consultation can be used:

      • To identify issues for specific attention with an osteopathic treatment
      • To create a specific exercise program to help correct any musculoskeletal imbalances.

The Movement Screen Consultation consists of:

      • Case history
      • Postural assessment
      • Gait assessment
      • Balance & Proprioception excursion tests
      • Functional movement screen (FMS as created by Gray Cook)

The Melbourne City CBD clinic is  located at 29 Somerset Place (basement), close to the corner of Elizabeth St and Little Bourke in the Melbourne City CBD. Our premises adjoin the Jon Weller Personal Training Studio, a fully-equipped training space which allows clients to combine their osteopathy treatment with exercise tutorials or specific training programs and rehabilitation.

The Docklands clinic is located at 717 Bourke St (Ground Floor), beneath the Channel 9 building near the walkway from Southern Cross Train Station to Etihad Stadium.  Our premises adjoin Pilates on Bourke, a fully-equipped pilates and yoga training space which allows clients to combine their osteopathy treatment with exercise tutorials, pilates or specific training programs and rehabilitation.
