Osteopaths Treat More Than Just Neck and Backs
I am still constantly amazed when people come into the clinic and seem surprised when we help them with their various musculoskeletal complaints that aren’t just their neck and back. Osteopathy has been around in Australia for many years now and whilst I am still only a young osteopath in the profession (12 years), I still get surprised on a weekly basis by peoples reactions to what we can help them with. Osteopaths are highly trained practitioners (who have completed either a double degree in health science or a health science degree and masters in osteopathy). We are trained to be able to diagnose and provide treatment and management advice on a wide variety of musculoskeletal complaints. Some of the more common ones include neck pain, back pain, upper limb conditions such as frozen shoulder, tendinopathies, strains and sprains. The same goes with the lower limb. Whilst ones practice may vary in how they approach and deal with a client based on their particular area of interest, our main aim to help our clients with an evidence based approach to treatment and management.
