Neuromobilisation techniques and assessment has existed in the manual therapy world for some years now.  It is largely taught by David Butler and associates of the Neuro Orthopedic Group (NOI) in Australia and abroad.

The NOI Group do a great job of describing neurodynamics as looking at the relationship between mechanics and physiology of the nervous system.  Just like the bodies muscle and joints move and stretch, the nervous system also has physical properties that are essential for movement.  Therefore, neurodynamic techniques can be used to assess and treat the nervous system.
