Low to High Chop and Lift Exercise

In the image below you will see one of Principle Four Osteopathy clients demonstrating a low to high banded chop and lift exercise.  In this particular variation we see the osteopathy client pull the band to their chest and then push the band away from their chest across their body.  The client has been asked to keep the pelvis facing forward, but has been instructed they are allowed to rotate their shoulders and turn their head.  There are many variations on this exercise where one can ask the client to maintain trunk stability (no movement) or allow trunk movement.

In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy performing another chop and lift exercise variation using the cable.  In this example he is facing the cable and stepping around and integrating body movement with the chop and lift exercise.  This could be looked at as an advancement on the exercise as it is integrating whole body movement.  It also allows for power generation through the entire body compared to the previous example which required trunk stability and planted feet.
