Kettlebell RDL / Hip Hinge

I was first introduced to using the posterior kettlebell hip hinge / RDL as a learning strategy and exercise when I undertook the Functional Movement Screen Level 1 and 2 course several years ago.  The hip hinge is one of those fundamental movement patterns that we must master if we are looking to incorporate exercises such as the Romanian Deadlift, Deadlift and Goodmorning into our strength and conditioning program.  The aim is to translate the hips posteriorly whilst the spine is maintained in a neutral position.  If you are performing this exercise correctly, you should feel a stretch through the hamstrings.

If you would like to undergo a functional movement screen or seek further guidance around the treatment and management of your musculoskeletal complaints, please feel free to book in for a consultation at the clinic.
