Kettlebell Floor Press With Hip Bridge Variations – Combining Strength Exercises

In the videos below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy demonstrate a number of kettlebell floor press exercises combined with hip bridge variations. The floor press is a great exercise for those wishing to modify their range of motion (often great for those who have shoulder issues or are needing to build some strength through a partial range).  The hip bridge has been added to these kettlebell floor pressing exercises so to incorporate more of the body into the exercise.  The hip bridge variations require the posterior chain (gluteals and hamstrings in particular) as well as torso stability (bracing and avoiding rotatory movements where possible).  The videos are listed in order of simple to more complex.

When trying these out, start with increased stability (bilateral hip bridge) and progress through either varying the pressing (bilateral to alternating or single arm – requires increased demand on the body to stabilise through the upper body and torso.  Progressions through the lower limb can involve moving from bilateral to single leg hip bridge or alternating.  Then combine both upper and lower body progressions to place more of a challenge on the whole body.
