Increasing Your Ankle Mobility Using Powerbands

In the video below you will see one of Principle Four Osteopathy clients using the powerband (to create a posterior translation of the tibia/fibular) to assist with the mobilisation of the ankle joint.  The ankle joint is a lot like a mortar and pestle, with the tibia and fibular sitting on the talus.  The goal is to take up as much of the dorsiflexion range as possible and aiming to keep the foot planted on the ground.  Then you should gentle mobilise forward and backwards or side to side.  For those that have anterior ankle pain during this exercise, please stop and consult with your osteopath or physiotherapist.
