High Plank Superman

The high plank superman is a great progression from the kneeling superman as it requires greater stability and control of the trunk through the longer lever greater distance (base of support) between the foot and hand.

In the image below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy demonstrating the high plank superman.

When performing this exercise the aim is to maintain a stable and long torso whilst raising the opposite arm and leg.  A big problem I often see when having clients perform this is a holding of the breathe.  So ideally one will maintain a natural breathe throughout the exercise.

If you are looking for some ideas on exercises, be it for prehab, rehab or athletic performance, be sure to touch base with us at Principle Four Osteopathy.
