Goblet Squat Trunk Positioning Review – An Osteopaths Perspective

In the image below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy demonstrating the bottom phase of the goblet squat.  The goblet squat is a squat that allows one to maintain a relatively upright trunk position (similar to the front squat) and is an exercise that I will perform commonly either as a warm up for heavier back squatting (typically I will perform 3-4 sets 10-12 reps focusing on foot/ankle/hip mobility) or for strength (selecting a weight that challenges myself for 5-8 reps and performing 4-5 sets).     In the image below you will see two lines (one along the tibia and the other trunk position).  The reason for incorporating these lines into the image is to demonstrate my tibia to trunk position and this is something that I have been working on each time I undertake vertical squatting patterns (as previously there was quite a difference between trunk and tibia angles).
