This weekend I have just completed Level 1 & 2 Functional Movement Systems in Melbourne.  This course was thoroughly enjoyable and I have walked away with another tool to add to my toolbox for assessing clients.  Check out the Functional Movement System by clicking here.  The FMS method was developed by USA physical therapist Gray Cook.

There have been a number of research papers written on FMS.  Please check them out here.

The Functional Movement Screen is a 7 step screening process that looks at both fundamental and functional movement patterns.  The individual is asked to complete these 7 assessments and they are ranked 0 – 3.  The FMS can be scored 0 – 21 in total.  With 14 and above being the number that identifies you as having less risk of injury from exercise. A score less than 14 shows that you have 3.5 times more of a chance of injury.  To read about FMS, please click here.

Principle Four Osteopathy will now be adding FMS screening to its services.  Osteopath Heath Williams will be undertaking these assessments and can provide a treatment and management process based on your specific results.
