Osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy demonstrates how the Free Form Board can be integrated into ones osteopathic consultation and/or exercise program. The Free Form Board is one tool that can be used to help improve ones range of movement, stability, strength, endurance and proprioception of various regions of the body. In this video, Osteopath Heath Williams demonstrates how the Free Form Board can be used for improving shoulder range of movement, strength and proprioception. This exercise can be regressed/progressed by varying the range of movement, distance, angle, reps, sets, weight and position of the points of contact with the floor. This exercise can be integrated into those clients with various shoulder complaints i.e. general shoulder range of movement restrictions, recovery from rotator cuff strains, impingement and instability. As always, it is essential to screen the client appropriately and to prescribe the exercise only when they are ready and if safe for there specific injury. For individuals with a Free Form Board at home, it is suggested that you be reviewed by your Osteopath or Physiotherapist before trying these exercises if you have any specific shoulder complaints.
